An amphibious fishing gear, here in the bay of Mont Saint-Michel. - C. Allain / 20 Minutes

He had been missing for three days. This Friday, the body of a man was recovered from a beach in Jullouville, in the Manche. It is indeed the last of the four fishermen missing since a navigation accident Tuesday in the bay of Mont Saint-Michel. The bodies of the first three men were found Tuesday and Wednesday.

The causes of the dramatic accident remain unexplained. Tuesday morning, the four men aged 60 to 75 had left the port of Cancale (Ille-et-Vilaine) aboard a motor boat of five to six meters which had been loaned to them. At around 3 p.m., the owner of the boat had alerted the emergency services, worried not to see the four fishermen returning from their trip at sea.

The boat remains untraceable

An autopsy of the last body will take place to determine the causes of death. The first three exams all confirmed the accidental thesis and drowning deaths. The boat remains untraceable. The four men came from Goven, Plesder, Cancale and Pleugueneuc and all three participated in a fishing trip.

The boat remains untraceable and the causes of the sinking are still unknown, said Saint-Malo prosecutor Christine Le Crom. The weather conditions were not bad, with a little rough sea. In periods of high tides, the currents remain very strong in the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, according to the maritime prefecture.
