• Coronavirus. Live

The coronavirus continues to spread throughout Spain. The number of infected people now exceeds 3,000 cases and almost 2,000 of them reside in Madrid.

Six out of ten of those infected with cough, fever and respiratory failure have mild symptoms, so they must recover from the disease in their own homes and take certain isolation measures that protect their environment for at least 14 days. These would be some of the guidelines to follow , as stated by the BBC in its recommendations to inmates.

What is self-isolation?

It is when you decide for yourself to stay away from the rest of the world and stay at home, without going to work, school or other public places . You also don't use public transport or taxis.

The room you are in, as common sense indicates, must be well ventilated, with windows and prevent other people from entering. Ask for help if you need to buy groceries, medication or any other product, but they will leave it for you at the door. Visits prohibited.

What if the infected person lives with others?

If you share a house with other people and you have symptoms of coronavirus, you have to be conscientious with certain practices to avoid contagion . Avoid using the kitchen when there are other people and go to your room, or isolation area, as soon as possible to eat. The surfaces of the house must be cleaned daily with your usual product to avoid risks.

And although it is difficult, direct contact with other family members should be limited as much as possible and kept at least two meters away, especially with vulnerable people, the elderly or relatives with chronic diseases.

Whoever lives with a sick person, and this extends to the entire population, should often wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Ideally, the patient should have an exclusive service for him, but if this is not possible, he should be the last to use it and clean it thoroughly afterwards. The garbage generated by the infected person must be placed in two bags.
