• Madrid.The Book Fair, postponed

Yesterday it was Madrid and today Catalonia. First there were the theaters and now the museums. Culture is paralyzed to stop the expansion of COVID-19: Barcelona is deserted, even the Sagrada Familia has closed (it has even stopped its works) , and the Dalí Museums (the most visited in Catalonia) have decided to close their three venues in Figueras, Portlligat and Púbol "until further notice".

A situation of uncertainty that affects all institutions. At the already announced closing of the CCCB (which will hold its conferences with Alessandro Baricco and Stefano Mancuso via 'streaming' ), all the municipal museums have joined this morning, with Picasso being the most important and the most visited in the city. The chain of closing announcements has been continuous: the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (Mnac), the Fundació Miró (which in March had already lost 40% of its visitors ), the Fundació Tàpies, the Ethnological, the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, etc. Barcelona thus follows in the footsteps of Madrid.

While the Dalí Foundation has decided to close its museums today at 2:00 pm, the Tibidabo Amusement Park, the Zoo or the Barcelona Maritime Museum, among others, will do so tomorrow .

The book party on April 23 is the date of greatest concern to booksellers and publishers. Last year 1.6 million books were sold and 22.16 million euros were invoiced. Although the Minister of Culture, Mari Angela Vilallonga bet yesterday to keep the party, its celebration is increasingly unlikely. The Editors' Guild had even considered celebrating it without booths or authors signing on the street.

Festival and concert cancellations are increasingly extended over time. The Barcelona-Sant Jordi 2020 International Film Festival (BCN Film Fest) was going to be held from April 17 to 24 but it has already announced new dates: from June 19 to 26. A postponement "for reasons of responsibility and public safety" , ensures its director, Conxita Casanovas.

The singer Chayanne has also suspended the concert he had scheduled for April 18 at the Palau Sant Jordi.
