For the young Syrian Abdul Rahman Karim, who succeeded in employing wood and metal to create artistic paintings, the love of art does not seem a luxury, but a passion rooted from childhood, and works that carry his messages to the other.

Abdul Rahman revealed to «Emirates Today» that the first piece he implemented was a painting that embodies the map of his country, adding, “Over time, my successive attempts in the field of design and creativity started on wood, to be embraced by Dubai, after I was born in Britain and moved to Syria, and settled in The end is in the Emirates that witnessed my true artistic launch.

He said: “Art was and still is my free space, in which I express my thoughts and feelings in my chest, which I take from the world around me, and translate them into expressive drawings on paper, and then creative works on wood, so art always remains the mirror of the self that helps me constantly Expressing moments of weakness, hesitation, loss, and human refraction that I mean by embodying them in my work. ”

The beginnings

Since the age of ten, Abdul Rahman set out in his first attempts to express himself through the language of art, but the circumstances of life later led him to change the path of his ambitions and dreams, and to start in another direction, after his father urged him to fuse early in the reality of professional life, and rely on himself, and he found himself A full-time worker at his father's wood factory.

He explained: “My work in the factory did not prevent me from achieving what I aspired to, so I started investing the available machinery and equipment and what I learned in the field of this industry, to start designing special artwork on wood, in which I relied on recycling the remains of used wood, to create three-dimensional artwork and designs. And special decorative pieces in which the wood was mixed with a number of other minerals such as plastic, glass, and building material output in general, such as iron.

Abdul Rahman Karim continued: “I was not initially concerned with marketing my work and presenting it to people except for what I had the opportunity to display on my page with (Instagram). I was receiving wide positive opinions and interactions from my friends and followers on social media, who showed interest in my work, at the time, I was actively involved in Enrich and expand this experience, and advance its success by working hard and disseminating my work on a wider scale. ”

He continued: «I established, in the middle of last year, a special technical account called (slabs) to display my work and present it to the interested, and I was pleased with the positive impact that I left among the interested and followers and the demand that I sensed to acquire, which gave me confidence and urged me to develop my artistic project and upgrade it to Another level, by creating a private gallery, will be (an artistic cafe).

Enthusiastically, Abdul Rahman reviews the new art gallery “Madeira”, and the restaurant that will open at the end of this month in Dubai, to crown his efforts in design: “I launched this special project that combines food and coffee experiences with artistic data, to devote a special concept in which art mixes with the details of life Everyday and its different experiences ».

Self-made artist

Abdel Rahman Karim describes himself as a self-made artist, who relied on his innate talent and his own vision in drawing, which he developed with discovery and permanent visits to various art galleries inside and outside the UAE, as well as his affiliation with a set of training programs specialized in fine arts and design techniques in which he developed his skills and knowledge.

He pointed to his preoccupation with the outputs of impressive Andalusian architecture in the buildings of the Alhambra Palace in the Spanish capital Madrid, which he visited and was amazed at the details of the uses of the thin and varied decorative elements in it and its organizations and geometric forms, starting from the writing of verses, supplications and praises, through the stucco stucco decorations covering its walls, until its engraved tiles Miscellaneous engineering.

Abdul Rahman Karim mentioned the moral support that his family provided him in general, and his father in particular, as this led him early to rely on himself, adding, “My father is still a moral supporter and also my main material support in the field of design, which is not without costs, which may seem to many of us as possible” .
