At 11:08 pm on March 9, at the scene of the collapse of the Xinjia Hotel building in Quanzhou, Fujian Province, after a three-hour rescue operation by fire rescue workers, a mother and child trapped for 52 hours were successfully rescued.

Around 8 o’clock that night, rescuers of the Zhangzhou Fire Rescue Detachment detected signs of life by using a life detector, and further confirmed by shouting and knocking. After hearing a response, they confirmed the location of the trapped person by talking with them. Because the area of the trapped person is buried under layers of steel members and floor slabs for more than 48 hours, the surrounding conditions are unknown. In order to avoid causing secondary injuries to the trapped person, only manual instruments and bare hands can be used to clean the boards and bricks. Obstacles such as blocks and steel bars open up rescue channels.

During the rescue process, rescuers talked with the trapped person several times and determined that the trapped person was pressed under the sofa. To further understand the situation around the trapped person, the rescuer also used the snake eye life detector to observe the trapped person from time to time. Internal situation of the area, and adjust the combat strategy according to the situation.

With the deepening of the rescue, the difficulty of rescue is getting more and more difficult. Fire rescuers can only work on their own and clear the obstacles by kneeling or lying down. After 3 hours of rescue, fire rescue workers finally opened up a life channel and rescued the trapped mother and child.
