At noon on March 8th, at the scene of the building collapse accident at the Xinjia Hotel, Nanhuan Road, Changtai Street, Licheng District, Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, various rescue efforts were underway. In an open space near the site, local villagers set up large pots and spontaneously cooked noodles for free collection by fire rescue workers, field workers, and volunteers. In the temporary tent, fire rescue workers struggling to sleep on the ground.
As of 18:00 on March 8, 49 people were trapped at the scene, of which 10 died and 22 were still buried in the rubble.
