  • Toulouse is adapting to the progression of the coronavirus epidemic, even if the city remained little affected this Sunday.
  • MP LREM Elisabeth Toutut-Picard is confined to her home after being tested positive for Covid-19 and then hospitalized from Friday to Saturday.
  • Political and cultural events have already been canceled or postponed.

We are only at the beginning of March. But to combat the spread of the coronavirus, the municipality of Toulouse has already brought out the files usually used when managing the heat wave plan. Mayor Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR) has indeed announced that "the most vulnerable people" willing to appear in the "Allô Seniors" register are being contacted directly by his services. Objective: carry out a “systematic reminder of health measures” in order to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Thursday evening, the day before this announcement, the Occitanie Regional Health Agency (ARS) reported the first confirmed case of the disease in Haute-Garonne. Friday, the deputy for Haute-Garonne (LREM) Elisabeth Toutut-Picard, affected by the virus, was hospitalized at the Toulouse-Purpan university hospital before leaving on Saturday. She must remain confined to her home for 14 days.

Nadia Pellefigue (PS, PCF, PRG) has thus canceled her big public meeting of the first round, scheduled for Tuesday evening. "The issue of gatherings in a closed environment represents a major issue in view of the high contagiousness of this virus", justifies the candidate.

The precautionary principle also applies to concerts. Rappers Dadju and Gims, who were to perform respectively at the Zenith on June 18 and 25, saw their concerts rescheduled. However, some shows planned in the same place, like that of Alain Souchon Thursday, are maintained to this day.

An agenda subject to change

In the events department, the Wine & Terroir Fair scheduled from March 13 to 15 at the Parc des expositions has been postponed to June 5, 6 and 7. Other events likely to attract a large audience, indoors or outdoors, are maintained without restriction, such as the Toulouse Carnival (March 28), the European Rugby Cup match between Stade Toulousain and the Ulster at the Stadium (April 5) or the Toulouse Fair (April 17-26).
