At 19:05 on the 7th, a building collapse occurred in Xinjia Hotel, Nanhuan Road, Licheng District, Quanzhou, and 71 people were trapped (excluding 9 people who escaped by themselves). As of press time, 49 people were trapped at the scene (nine of them had no vital signs when they were rescued, and one died after the rescue was invalid), and 22 were still missing.

At 16:38 on the 8th, rescuers at the scene rescued the 49th trapped person and rushed to Quanzhou First Hospital for treatment. It is understood that the woman rescued was the mother of a 12-year-old boy who was rescued at about 11.24 on the same day. Fire rescue personnel said that after the boy was rescued, the snake eye life detector detected that the calf of the boy's mother was caught by the angle iron, and the rescue space was small. Rescue personnel could only manually dismantle the rescue. After more than five hours of intensive rescue, the boy's mother was finally rescued, and applause broke out at the scene.

As night fell, rescue at the scene became more difficult. In order to ensure the safety of night rescue, the scope of the on-site cordon was further expanded, and all non-frontline rescue workers were required to stay away from the collapsed site.

A reporter from the China News Agency saw at the scene that rescuers were still busy under the lights. At present, large-scale equipment has been entering one after another, and rescuers are clearing obstacles in order to carry out the next rescue.

According to the Quanzhou official report, the collapsed building was constructed in 2013, with 7 main floors and a height of 22 meters. It is a steel structure building and was transformed into a Xinjia Hotel in 2018. In addition, Xinjia Hotel also has 16 management and service personnel, and 6 car rental personnel in the building. (Finish)
