In the early morning of March 5, the General Administration of Customs uniformly directed the Customs Anti-Smuggling Bureaus in Guangzhou, Hefei, and Chengdu to launch a special operation to combat wildlife smuggling "Guard 2020", and cracked a major case of smuggling national wildlife protection products, arresting criminal suspects in one fell swoop. Twelve, 20.3 tons of wild animal products such as "dried toads" were seized on the spot. Preliminary investigations revealed that Chen and others smuggled overseas "dried toads" and other wild animals into the country in order to obtain benefits, and sold them to Guangdong, Anhui, Sichuan and other medicinal materials distribution markets. It is understood that the toad's scientific name, Gecko, also known as the toad, is a small and medium-sized lizard, mainly distributed in southeastern and southern Asia. China listed it as a national second-class protected animal in 1988. At present, this species belongs to the "endangered wild Appendix II species of the Convention on International Trade in Fauna and Flora. According to the General Administration of Customs, the next step is for the customs across the country to crack down on illegal and criminal activities in the smuggling of wild animals and their products, and cut off the smuggling chain of wild animals and their products.
