While measures are increasing to limit the coronavirus epidemic, some are disappointing. This is the case of a 4th year class whose school trip to Scotland was canceled while they were on the ferry. Fourteen hours of travel for nothing and students saddened by the situation.

TESTIMONY

Fourteen hours of travel, then U-turn. It is the mishap of college students from Lorraine, on their way to Scotland. Because of coronavirus, school trips are prohibited and interrupted on a case-by-case basis until further notice, according to a decision of the Minister of National Education. These 49 4th graders left Lorraine on Sunday. They were to reach Scotland for a six-day trip, but once on the ferry, they learned that they had to turn around.

Without a boat to ensure their immediate return, they continued their journey to Edinburgh. Europe 1 contacted a professor.

"A totally ubiquitous situation"

After fourteen hours of travel for nothing, everyone is all upset. "The children are in total incomprehension, they are extremely disappointed. Some are even irritated. For them, it is more than a year of work, for the teachers it is the same thing. And there, we abort everything not even 24 hours, "laments the professor. "They are trying to tell us 'it's ok there is nothing, no one is sick on our bus, there are no cases of coronavirus in Scotland', which is true."

"At the same time we understand preventive measures, and at the same time not. It is a totally ubiquitous situation," explains the professor. Students and their teachers will know Tuesday under what conditions they can return to France.
