According to Interfax, the historical drama by Andrei Smirnov “Frenchman” is the leader in the number of nominations. The film, which tells about the French student’s journey to Moscow in the middle of the 20th century, is presented in six categories, including the main ones - “Best Film” and “Best Director”.

The films “Sin” by Andrei Konchalovsky, “Hayk” by Sergey Dvortsovsky, “Dyld” by Kantemir Balagov and “Odessa” by Valery Todorovsky will compete for the title of the best film with the “Frenchman”.

The list of nominees for directing also included Sergey Dvortseva and Kantemir Balagov. The award for the best script is claimed by: Sergey Dvortseva and Gennady Ostrovsky (“Hayka”), Dmitry Glukhovsky (“Text”), Yuri Razykov (“Kerosin”) and Andrey Smirnov (“French”).

In the nomination “Best Actor” are presented: Alexey Agranovich (“Comedian”), Alexander Pal (“Fidelity”), Alexey Vertkov (“Sunday”) and Leonid Yarmolnik (“Odessa”). Alexander Baluev and Mikhail Efremov, who starred in the movie Frenchman, as well as Evgeny Tsyganov (Odessa), can get Nika for the supporting role.

For the award in the nomination "Best Actress" claim: Victoria Miroshnichenko ("Dylda"), Samal Yeslyamova ("Hayka") and Elena Susanina ("Kerosin"). The category "Best Supporting Actress" included: Nina Drobysheva, Natalya Tenyakova, both for roles in the film "French", and Vera Alentova ("Sunday"),

“Discovery of the Year” may be directed by Boris Akopov (“Bull”), actress Evgenia Obraztsova (“French”) and screenwriter Alexander Zolotukhin (“Russian Boy”).

The award ceremony will be held on March 29.

The national film award Nika was established in 1987 by the Russian Academy of Motion Picture Arts. Winners are determined by secret ballot by members of the Academy, which includes more than 600 people.

Last year, the film “Anna's War” by Alexei Fedorchenko became the winner of the prize for the best film.

Earlier, laureates of the International Berlin Film Festival became known. The main prize - “Golden Bear” - received the film “Evil Does Not Exist” by Iranian director Mohammad Rasulof.
