The gusts of wind recorded this Monday morning caused a lot of damage on the Pyrenees chain after the passage of the storm Karine. In particular in the Hautes-Pyrénées department where the prefecture counted at the end of the morning no less than 80 interventions by firefighters for roofs damaged by the wind or coated trees.

Wind gusts over 100 km / h were recorded in this area during the morning and there were expected to be more until 9 p.m., as well as Tuesday afternoon.

The trees were uprooted, electric wires ended up on the ground as well as concrete walls.

Partially destroyed cloister

In Tarbes, the Massey garden was also affected by storm Karine. The west side of the cloister of the abbey of Saint-Sever-de-Rustan, classified as a historic monument, was thus partially destroyed by the fall of a hundred-year-old tree, said the town hall on its website.

The Massey garden suffered a lot of damage during the passage of the #tempetekarine and part of the cloister was destroyed. Several trees having been uprooted, it will remain closed until it is secure. #Tarbes #meteohttps: //t.co/nqv23eqsOS pic.twitter.com/66C3hr5qRT
