On February 29, the results of the 70th Berlin Film Festival were summed up. The main awards this year were awarded by an international jury led by Jeremy Irons.

The evening's triumph was Mohammad Rasulof, who removed the tape “There is no Evil” (Sheytan vojud nadarad). The film consists of four stories about human choice. The director was unable to attend the ceremony, since he was forbidden to leave Iran.

The best director was South Korean director Hong San Su. At the festival, he presented the painting “The Woman Who Escaped” (Domangchin yeoja). The Grand Prix of the jury received Eliza Hittman for the film "Never, rarely, sometimes, always" (Never Rarely Sometimes Always). In a winning speech, the director noted that she was taking part in the Berlin Film Festival for the first time.

Jury Chairman Jeremy Irons presented the prize for outstanding artistic achievements to the operator of the film “Dow. Natasha ”to Jurgen Jurges.

Bernice Bejo introduced the award for the best screenplay - she went to the brothers Fabio and Damiano d'Inocenzo for the film "Bad Tales" (Favolacce). Also, the French actress awarded the silver bear for best actor Elio Germano, who played the Italian artist Antonio Ligabue in the film “I wanted to hide” (Volevo nascondermi).

The title of best actress of the festival was awarded to Paula Behr for her role in the film “Ondine”.

The special silver bear of the 70th Berlinale went to Benoit Delepin and Gustav de Kerven (France, Belgium) - the creators of the film “Delete History” (Effacer l'historique) about the problems of modern society that relies on technology and the Internet.

Together with the Collisions section, separate awards for the best directing and the best film, as well as a special jury prize, were established this year. The latter went to Sandra Wolner, who set the picture “The Trouble with Being Born”.

The best director of the section was Romanian Christie Puyu. The jury called his film “Malmkrog”, based on the texts of the philosopher Vladimir Solovyov, “a real clash”. The best film of the program was recognized as "Work and Days (Tayoko Shiojiri in the Shiotani Basin)" directed by S.V. Winter and Andres Edstrom.

The GWFF Special Mention Award went to Melanie Walde. Her film “Naked Animals” (Nackte Tiere) was featured in the Clashes program, which was held for the first time this year. According to the GWFF jury, the title “Best Film” was awarded to Camilo Restrepo's “Conducts” (Los conductos), co-produced by France, Colombia and Brazil.

The winner of the festival from documentary films was the French-Cambodian film by Riti Panha “Irradiés”, which tells about the horrors of World War II - concentration camps, atomic bombings and genocide. The best short film was chosen by the tape "T" by US representative Kesha Ray Witherspoon.

The Audi Prize was awarded to Adrien Meriggio for Genius Loci. A silver bear for directing a short film was awarded to the creator of Filipiñana, Rafael Manuel.

The Berlin Film Festival appeared in 1951 and entered the top three largest screenings in Europe along with Cannes and Venice. Until 1956, he did not have official international status, and the winners in the debut year were selected by the national jury, and from 1952 to 1955, voting was held in foreign magazines.

The first festival in 1951 was opened by Rebecca by Alfred Hitchcock. In that year, the categories were still defined by genres - dramas, comedies, thrillers, adventure, musical, documentary, scientific, advertising and short films competed separately with each other.

About 20 thousand professionals from more than 130 countries, including more than 4.2 thousand journalists, visit the film festival and related events every year.

In 1970, a scandal broke out at the festival regarding the presentation of the Golden Bear by Michael Ferheven to ok. The plot of the tape was dedicated to the crimes of the US military in Vietnam, and director George Stevens unofficially asked to be excluded from the program. This fact was made public, the jury was accused of censorship and dismissed. As a result, in 1970 the main award was never presented.

In 1978, the jury decided to mark the main award of the festival not just one film, but the whole country - “Golden Bear” was awarded to Spain, which was presented by the films “What Max said” by Emilio Martinez Lazaro, “Trout” by Jose Luis García Sanchez and the short film “Elevator” »Tomas Munoz.

The last domestic owner of Golden Bear to date is the film Theme, directed by Gleb Panfilov. The picture was released in 1979, but due to censorship in the USSR, it only got to the Berlin Film Festival in 1987.
