Rwanda was already a pioneer with the passing of a law banning polyethylene bags in 2008. Since then, the capital Kigali has been famous for its cleanliness. Today, the Rwandan government goes further. In August 2019, Parliament passed a law to eliminate most single-use plastics, i.e. plastic glasses and cutlery or straws. And already, manufacturers and sellers have to adapt.
