AI = Artificial intelligence has studied Osamu Tezuka's manga and figured out the synopsis and character's face. The manga was created by a project team made by Tezuka Productions and a semiconductor maker with a technology called Kiokusia, and the first part of the new manga was released on 26th.
The new story is set in Tokyo in 2030, where a homeless philosopher who has lost his memory will solve a case with a little bird robot.
The rough outline, including the setting of the manga era, was invented by AI studying Osamu Tezuka's works such as "Firebird" and "Astro Boy".
AI also figured out the character's face, and the hero's philosopher's face learned and produced 6,000 images of the character of Tezuka-san's work.
Based on the idea of AI, the project team finished the new work and incorporated the self-driving electric car, drone, face recognition system, etc. into the cartoon.
Mr. Makoto Tezuka, a director of Tezuka Productions, said at a recital, "I feel very significant that I tried the world's first attempt at the story of Tezuka Osamu's work of drawing cartoons using AI. "
The new work has been published in the comic magazine "Morning" released by Kodansha, and the production of the second part is underway.
