The number of people living in a territory lacking in general practitioners rose from 2.5 million in 2015 to 3.8 million in 2018, according to a study by Drees published in mid-February.

To remedy this problem, some elected officials from the territories concerned are looking for solutions that are off the beaten track. In Seppois-le-Bas, in the Haut-Rhin, they placed an ad on the Le Bon Coin site. The elected officials of this municipality of less than 1,500 inhabitants also put up posters with a catchy phrase: "Single stethoscope looking for a doctor who likes life and meetings". Everything is good for attracting practitioners.

Advantageous conditions

And the feedback is "rather positive", indicates to 20 Minutes the mayor of the town, Claude Burgys. He is scheduled to meet with two general practitioners this Wednesday afternoon. A retired surgeon also offered to work a few hours per week. "We offer these doctors to pay them, we take care of the premises and their maintenance," he explains. The town has restored the old primary school to a medical center. A post of medical secretary is also planned to assist them.

Despite these advantageous conditions, the mayor, who does not represent himself at the municipal level, is not certain to complete the recruitments before the end of his mandate. "There are still many points to negotiate with the doctors who are interested in our offer," he says.
