Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak died at the age of 91 on Tuesday (February 25th) at the Galaa military hospital in Cairo, his brother-in-law, General Mounir Thabet, told AFP.

After 30 years in power, Hosni Mubarak had been forced to resign during the 2011 revolution. He was then convicted of "murder and attempted murder of demonstrators, abuse of power and social property and damage to the interests of the State ", then misappropriation of public funds. Since March 24, 2017, he was free, after having completed his last sentence of six years in prison, in a military hospital.

The family was still in hospital mid-day Tuesday, the general added, adding that the Egyptian presidency would organize the funeral of Mubarak, who ruled Egypt for three decades.
