A Scottish sheep breeder has admitted charges of abusing animals, after a video clip showed him punching two sheep on the face, an animal welfare association said Tuesday.

William Brown, 59, fined £ 550 ($ 715) under a 2006 law on animal welfare, after admitting to harming two sheep on his farm south of Edinburgh in 2018.

The Scottish Society Anti-Animal Treatment Inquiry investigated brutally empowered to bring cases to prosecutors suspected of brutal treatment.

The president of the association said he hoped the fine would constitute a "warning that this behavior is unacceptable."
