Grenoble is the only large French city managed by environmentalists. It should remain in the hands of EELV. Its mayor, Eric Piolle, elected in 2014, is widely in the lead in the polls. With 36% of the voting intentions, it is far from its adversaries. This campaign could have been just a formality. But that was without counting on the return of Alain Carignon, former right-wing minister, mayor of the city from 1983 to 1995, sentenced to firm prison for corruption, and candidate, at 70, for a new term.
