Hirak in Algeria: a year of peaceful protest

On February 22, 2019, outraged by the prospect of a fifth term of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Algerians went out en masse in the streets of Algiers and major cities of the country in protest.

A year later, to the day, they are still there. Every Friday, and even every Tuesday in Algiers for the students, they parade, they protest, they contest and demand, unchangingly, peacefully, the change of regime.
