The young Sara Cruz Teja traveled in time to the flirtatious fifties to be crowned queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife 2020, after being distinguished by the jury among the sixteen candidates who paraded the stage during the gala held at the Wednesday night in the capital of Tenerife.

The new queen of the chicharrera party, declared of International Tourist Interest, wore the fantasy "Feel" of the designer Sedomir Rodríguez (who repeats the 2019 award), representing the Alcampo La Laguna Shopping Center.

The gala of the queen of the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which this year is dedicated to the fifties of the last century, featured performances by Paulina Rubio and Soraya, at the last stop before the party reaches every corner from the center of the capital starting next Friday.

One of the main novelties in the queen's election gala was the artistic direction, in charge of the designers Marco & María, who took over from Enrique Camacho, director of the event during the last four years.

The artistic leaders of the gala, who made the costumes of three queens of the chicharrera party (in 1993, 1994 and 1995), opted to give greater prominence to the candidates who, unlike usual in recent editions, paraded in twice on stage to show their fantasies.

The gala began with a musical inspired by the fifties that toured all carnival groups, from the murgas to the rondallas, with the interpretation of different adaptations of the classic "Santa Cruz en Carnaval", the soundtrack of the party greaves

During the gala, the carnival groups that won their respective competitions had prominence: the murderer Zeta Zetas (also known for her prize in the Telecinco program of 'Got Talent'), the Valkyrie rondalla or the Cariocas troupe, as well the different groups and characters of the carnival.

The sixteen candidates paraded in four blocks, with four candidates in each of them, to the rhythm of different musical styles. Between block and block, there were different performances to liven up the gala.

After the parade of all applicants, and while the jury was deliberating, the performances of Soraya Arnelas and the Mexican Paulina Rubio took place.

The election of the queen took place in the Fairground of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the presence of 5,700 spectators and on a stage of 1,200 square meters with a design by Javier Torres Franquis, inspired by the fifties.
