Author Sofie Sarenbrant discovered on Monday that her book Skamvrån was not included in the top 20 list of the best-selling books in Sweden, as sales for audio books and e-books were not included.

- The entire report on the 2019 financial year is incorrect then, because there are no such large figures, says Sofie Sarenbrant.

She states that Skamvrån had over 100,000 listenings in audiobook form.

The industry magazine Svensk Bokhandel writes that the owners of the statistics - the Bookstore Association and the Publishers Association - say that no revision of the to-do list is not relevant.

"My credibility is damaged"

The statistics should have been submitted, but it is incomplete and therefore has not been included, according to Christer Perslöv, CEO of Bokinfo, who collects the statistics, writes Svensk Bookstore.

- For me personally, it means that my credibility as a writer is damaged when I'm not even on the lists when I told during the year that "my book has sold si and so much". Then both the industry and readers may start to wonder, says Sofie Sarenbrant.

Alex Schulmans Burn all my letters is given like Sarenbrants Skamvrån out of Bookmark publisher. His book is in place 15 on the list. Schulman's placement has been added to the list, which states that the agency's digital audiobook sales were not included at the time and that, with those figures, it probably had a higher placement.

Sofie Sarenbrant has received support from renowned colleagues in social media. Camilla Läckberg, who tops the sales list for e-books and audiobooks with A cage of gold. "I want the current list to be annulled and one to be produced with CORRECT documentation," she writes.

The cultural news is looking for the Publishers Association.
