The final of the eleventh edition of Top Chef, which will be broadcast on M6 on Wednesday, saw its shooting disrupted by the gastroenteritis of one of the candidates, forcing the team to postpone the shooting to only one week of the broadcast.

Panic in the kitchen. While the Top Chef show returns on M6 on Wednesday, the filming of the final has almost turned into a disaster. The cause: gastroenteritis, the epidemic of which has spread over several regions, from January. The virus played a bad trick on one of the finalists of the cooking competition, and could well have spread to the whole team, tells us Le Parisien. It is therefore the entire exceptional arrangement of this final, organized in the kitchens of the George V in Paris, which had to be canceled.

Unheard of for the chief jurors, Hélène Darroze, Philippe Etchebest, Michel Sarran and Paul Pairet. After being seen by an emergency doctor, the finalist was declared unfit. His contagious illness is incompatible with handling food.

In-extremis shooting

The problem of the calendar then arises, maddening the filming team made up of no less than 110 people from production, including 16 cameramen, as well as twenty servers and a hundred Red Cross volunteers mobilized to participate in tasting of dishes prepared by the finalists. Result: forced to cancel them. Urgency: set a new shooting date that is suitable for jurors, finalists, candidates, while taking into account the availability of the location in which the show's finale is shot, the Four Seasons Hotel Georges V, in Paris.

Finally, the shooting took place on February 10, less than ten days before the broadcast date. Regarding the cost of such a shift, more fear than harm. In such a situation, validated by a municipal decision, production is covered by insurance.
