Even in a day without, Liverpool continues its incredible season. The Reds garnered their 25th victory in 26 league games in this 2019-2020 season, Saturday, February 15, on the Norwich field (1-0). Jürgen Klopp's men were struggling at Carrow Road, the home of the Canaries. But their salvation came from a man who emerged from the bench: Sadio Mané.

It delivers the Reds, 18 minutes after coming into play

The Senegalese had not appeared in the Liverpool jersey for three weeks and an injury outing, January 23, during a match in Wolverhampton. Hit on a thigh, the attacker was treated and returned to training within a week. His coach retained him for the trip to Norwich but he decided to keep him as a substitute until the hour of play, when the vice-champion of Africa replaced Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to train again the offensive trident Mané-Firmino-Salah.

Klopp's coaching was undoubtedly aimed at restoring rhythm to the Lion of Teranga, knowing that Liverpool are going to Madrid to challenge Atlético on Tuesday February 18 in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League. But Sadio Mané did much more than find playing time; he turned into a “super-sub” and offered victory to his team.

On a Jordan Henderson ball, the scorer showed that he was recovered by controlling the ball in extension in the air with the tip of his right foot, before deceiving Tim Krul with his left foot (78th). And that's how Liverpool, although sluggish, manages to count 76 points after 26 days, or 25 lengths ahead of its runner-up, Manchester City…

Liverpool rushes to records, Mané 100 goals in four and a half years in England

The Scousers now have 17 straight wins; they equal their best total, established between March and October 2019 (straddling two seasons therefore), and now only need a single victory for the record in this area, held by Manchester City (18 victories between August and December 2017). Also with 43 consecutive unbeaten games, Liverpool have the second-longest unbeaten streak in Premier League history. Only the 2003-2004 Arsenal Gunners (49 games unbeaten) are still ahead of them.

And Sadio Mané? The striker ignored him, but by scoring against Norwich, he reached the 100 goals mark in England in all competitions (league and national cups). With Southampton, between 2014 and 2016, the ex-player of AS Generation Foot, FC Metz and Red Bull Salzburg scored 25 goals. And with Liverpool, he has 75 achievements. " Really ?! Wow, thank you, ”he exclaimed when a Sky Sports reporter told him that he was 100 years old in England.

Number 10 then came back to his absence: “ It was not easy. As a footballer, you want to play all the time, but you had to live with it. I followed my treatment, I worked and worked hard and came back. For his greatest pleasure, that of his team and Liverpool fans, three days to find the Champions League.
