Grey's Anatomy will welcome a deaf woman doctor, Doctor Lauren Riley, played by deaf actress Shoshannah Stern. It will appear from episode 13 of the 16th season, reveals the Entertainment Tonight site.

It is rare that a deaf character has an important role, at a prime time, underlines Entertainment Tonight . Among the rare examples are Emma Coolidge, in the Heroes series (produced by NBC), and Lisa Parks, who makes a brief appearance in the Emergencies series.

Skam France tackles deaf culture

Grey's Anatomy called several deaf doctors to advise them on the character played by Shoshannah Stern, says the actress.

In France, the fifth season of Skam France , broadcast on France TV Slash, follows the fate of Arthur, a teenager confronted with the appearance of "sudden deafness".
