The competent security services in Egypt thwarted an attempt to enter 4 tons of hashish through the port of Alexandria, according to the newspaper, "The Seventh Day."

According to “The Seventh Day”, the seized shipment was coming from the port of an Arab country as canned food product “Hummus mixed with tahini”, as it reached 15 thousand and 842 cans.

The value of drug seizures amounts to about 390 million Egyptian pounds (approximately 91 million dirhams).

This comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Interior agencies to combat crime in all its forms, especially crimes of trafficking in narcotic drugs and the pursuit and control of criminal elements based on the processes of bringing, smuggling and promoting them, according to the newspaper.

The Egyptian security services confirmed that the elements involved in the smuggling process have been identified and that they will be arrested and placed in court.
