This is good news for fans of the film Aladdin . Not the animated classic of 1992, but the short film released in 2019, with Mena Massoud in the role of Aladdin, Naomi Scott in that of his beloved Jasmine, and Will Smith as Genie of the lamp.
According to Variety , Disney has decided to shoot a sequel, which is to be written by screenwriters John Gatins and Andrea Berloff. We do not yet know if our three heroine and heroes of the first opus will be there, however. No info either on the participation of director Guy Ritchie.
One of the film's producers, Dan Lin, had already hinted in August 2019 that he would very much like to do a sequel. Inspired by the tale of One Thousand and One Nights, Aladdin has reaped a great success, with more than a billion dollars in revenue worldwide, and more than two and a half million admissions in France.
