A new star. BBC Studios will produce a documentary television series about Greta Thunberg, the British production company announced on Monday. The program will follow the "international crusade" in favor of the ecology of the 17-year-old Swedish activist.
The documentary will show his meeting with leading scientists and political leaders, and "will also retrace his journey to adulthood." The series will also share "certain moments of tranquility during which she writes her hard-hitting speeches," said BBC Studios. The title and number of episodes have not yet been defined, nor the date of broadcast of the series.
Working with Greta, an “extraordinary privilege”
The teenager was propelled spokesperson for a whole generation in August 2018 when she began to sit in front of the Swedish Parliament. It has become the face of climate concerns for young and old, pushing millions of people to get involved.
"Climate change is probably the most important issue in our lives," said BBC Studios executive producer Rob Liddell. “It therefore seems appropriate to produce a series that explores the scientific facts behind this complex subject. Being able to do it with Greta is an extraordinary privilege. The producer is delighted to see "from the inside what it is like to be […] one of the most famous faces on the planet".
