The Ministry of Tolerance launched 32 sets of illustrated stories of tolerance for children, supervised by the Ministry, in cooperation with the Emirates Literature Foundation, in both Arabic and English.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, honored the winners of the creative writing competition for tolerance for children and young people, which the Ministry launched last October, on the sidelines of the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in Dubai, the day before yesterday.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak said: “The celebration of creative children and young people, through this type of courses and competitions, comes within the framework of encouraging them to hone their talents and develop their capabilities, so that they will be knights of the word in the future.” He pointed out that “the ministry has opened up to promising talents the doors of participation, Through the 1,000 project, creativity in the field of tolerance, whether in the fields of arts or arts, or any other creative fields, to enrich the knowledge content in the field of tolerance, and to promote the Arabic language as a language of tolerance ».

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak added that “the creative writing competition for tolerance and human brotherhood, which the Ministry launched last October, provided it with more than 1562 students working in the fields of short story, poetry and essay, and the works were evaluated through a specialized committee, which includes a number of Emirati writers according to criteria Specific, and the long list came out with 63 works that entered another evaluation, and the short list reached 48 works, and in the final liquidation three works from the children's category and three from the youth category won the competition awards.

The Minister of Tolerance considered that «all participants are undoubtedly winners, as the competition aims to open the door for everyone in this early age period in order to do their queues», pointing out that «distinguished works will ensure the ministry to print, publish and join it in the project of 1000 creativity, to support small talents and motivate them to continue creativity". He revealed that "the ministry is currently studying the launch of the second stage, after the first stage attracted large numbers that applied for the competition, which was a big surprise."

He explained that «launching illustrated stories of tolerance for children, is the result of a pioneering initiative that saw the light of the National Tolerance Festival in November 2018, in cooperation with the Emirates Literature Foundation, as the initiative attracted a large number of talented young people in writing and drawing and trained, and the first stage succeeded in providing 32 books In both Arabic and English, after continuous training by specialized trainers, paper and digital stories were put forward, to be an addition to the library in the field of tolerance, in addition to its inclusion in the project of 1,000 creativity ».

Topics and winners

The Tolerance for Creative Writing competition focused on two topics in the category Children: Respect and Tolerance of Hearts, and the Emirates Land of Love.

While it allowed writing on three topics for the youth category: spreading the values ​​of peace, pluralism and tolerance, the Emirates the homeland of tolerance, coexistence and love, human fraternity and cultural contact.

And he won the competition for the children’s category: Saud Abdullah Al-Baluki won first place on the story of “Tolerance is the fruit of humility”, while Reem Abdullah Ibrahim came second on the story of “Pulse of Tolerance”, and Talal Fadel Al-Zyoudi came third with his story “Tolerance Healing Hearts”.

And on the category of adolescents, Muhammad Al-Madi came first in his story, “Looking for Friends”, and Muhammad Al-Ahmad won second place with her article “It is the Circle”, and Alia Adel Al-Bastaki came third with her article “Emirates Bridge of Civilizations”.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, said, “The interesting books that have been written for children by writers and young painters from all over the Emirates are known through experiences through fictional characters.” Noting that “creative writing is a means for dialogue, and an opportunity to express Aspiration and a tool to help think about how to overcome challenges in the pursuit of a bright future for human fraternity, as creative graphics and images convey the message of tolerance, and expand it in a visual language beyond words.

He added that «this collection of books, which we celebrate today, is an important part of the Ministry’s project to produce 1,000 creative works on human tolerance and brotherhood».
