In Italy, the regional elections of January, in Emilia-Romagna, were the scene of a bitter political battle. The Democratic Party finally consolidated its seat in this historic bastion of the left, inflicting a defeat on the Northern League, the party of Matteo Salvini. The far right leader, however, was personally involved in the campaign, hoping to return in force on the national scene. But a few days before the election, it was another personality who made the name: an "outsider" named Elly Schlein.
