REPORTAGE

The coronavirus now concerns 11 patients in France. Five new cases were detected on Saturday. These are British people who were staying in Contamines-Montjoie, in Haute-Savoie. During their trip, they slept in a chalet where a compatriot returning from Singapore already had the virus. Now, the residents of the ski resort wonder about the risks they run. Especially since an infected child was educated in a village school.

The municipality hopes to be able to extend the medical device

More than a hundred inhabitants gathered on Saturday evening in the town hall for an information meeting, including many parents worried about the health of their offspring. For the mayor of the ski resort, Etienne Jacquet, the objective is above all to avoid psychosis. "When the health of our children is at stake, we are always worried, it is legitimate," he acknowledges. "This is why we are setting up a crisis cell, so that all those who have doubts or a cold can come here."

Etienne Jacquet hopes to be able to meet with the Minister of Health, Agnès Buzyn, expected on site Sunday, to maintain this device a little longer and thus reassure the population. "However, I would remind you that today there is no particular concern to be had, tourists will be in the most secure resort in France", he assures, serene. "With the medical device that we have set up here, I even strongly advise them to come to Les Contamines: if they have the slightest flu or the slightest cold, they will be immediately diagnosed, well cared for and well received!"
