As the spread of the new coronavirus spreads, manufacturers of masks are flooded with orders, and production has sometimes caught up.

At the factory of a mask manufacturer in Nakai-cho, Kanagawa Prefecture, orders have been placed several dozen times since the middle of last month when infection began to spread.

This company sells high-quality masks mainly to medical institutions, but recently orders have been increasing from trading companies that export them overseas.

The factory runs the machine at full capacity almost 24 hours a day, producing twice or three times as fast as usual, but not enough to fulfill all orders.

Nobuya Horiguchi, vice president of the company, said, "Originally there is a lot of demand for masks from winter to early spring, and production is in time."

On the other hand, masks are often resold at high prices through internet sites, and it has been confirmed that masks from this company are exhibited at prices two to three times the normal price.

Mr. Horiguchi said, "We may refuse the first person we deal with and we are careful about reselling. We want to make it available to users who really need it."
