A blockage of two depots disrupts garbage collection in Marseille - Jean Saint-Marc / 20 Minutes

They suspend their movement after two weeks of strike. The personnel in charge of collecting waste at the Aix-Marseille metropolitan area announced this Thursday evening in a press release "to suspend as of this [Thursday] evening and on our own initiative the strike movement started on January 23rd".

"An end to our right to strike"

They denounce the "multiple obstacles to the right to strike, the permanent harassment of the management, the systematic dispatch of the police, and the lies", evidence "of contempt for the management of the Metropolis". For them, "management, not content to refuse us any meeting, puts an end to our right to strike by opting for requisition". The city had obtained authorization by prefectural decree to requisition staff.

The determination of the strikers remains whole and they warn: "the collection agents, shippers of all the sectors, drivers of the garages will mobilize all together if one touches only one of them". Martine Vassal, President of the Aix-Marseille-Provence Metropolis, "is satisfied with the resumption of household waste collection in Marseille following her request for requisition of staff made [Wednesday] evening," announced the metropolis in a press release.
