"Birds of Prey and the fantastical story of Harley Quinn" by Cathy Yan - Warner Bros France

  • Five strong women share the star of "Birds of Prey and the fantastical story of Harley Quinn".
  • Margot Robbie, in Harley Quinn's shoes, replies to a bunch of accomplice actresses.
  • These ladies join forces to defeat a cruel mobster embodied by Ewan McGregor.

Do not believe that Birds of Prey and the fantastical story of Harley Quinn is one centered only on the girlfriend of the Joker. The sparkling Harley Quinn, embodied by Margot Robbie, is certainly part of the adventure, but she is above all the narrator a bit muddled.

They are no less than five girls at the center of the action to fight against the poisonous Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor) and try to recover (by natural means) the diamond that an adorable pickpocket swallowed after having stolen it. "There is no reason why women should not be able to make superhero films," said director Cathy Yan in the press kit. 20 Minutes explains without spoiler what is going on behind this Birds of Prey .

Strong women

Harley Quinn must assume alone now that she no longer has "Mister J." in her life. She crosses paths with those who will constitute the hard core of "Birds of Prey", trio of vigilantes. Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Montoya (Rosie Perez) and Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) are just as engaging as the thieving and constipated kid played by Ella Jay Basco who makes her screen debut.

Muscular fights

Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick saga, was called alongside Cathy Yan in order to strengthen the action scenes. Chases in mind-blowing cars and confrontations in a disused amusement park are on the menu. These ladies do not let themselves be told when it comes to getting rid of minions in the patibular mines. Baseball bat, mallet, grenades or crossbows are used.

Female solidarity

Will they get along, the ex-villain trying to start a new life, the determined policewoman, the singer enslaved by a mafia, the vigilante drunk with revenge and the kid kleptomaniac? The bet is not obvious and yet, it is by joining forces that they can get out of trouble. Even if they have to take a lot on themselves so as not to kill each other.

Badassery as promised

This is what the poster of Birds of Prey promises and this is what the film gives. These heroines are those who no longer want men to rule their lives. When Harley Quinn declares that it is from now on that we should be afraid instead of the Joker, the spectator is quickly convinced. She and her friends are dangerous without losing an ounce of femininity, badass as it should be, which makes them damn modern heroines.
