- The fact that I was in prison meant a lot. It has built me as a person, he says.

In November 2018, shortly after leaving prison, 1.Cuz released the song "Beware the Man" which became his big breakthrough. Today he is one of Sweden's most popular rappers.

- All my thoughts and feelings that I had when I was sitting at an institution, that's what comes out in my music, he says.

Sentenced to prison

1.Cuz previously did not want to talk about why he was jailed, but tells Veckan's crime that he was sentenced for a crime that gives two years in prison.

Why don't you tell me?

- That destructive has left a trauma in me that I don't want to keep thinking about. No man has plans to fall back into anything, these are my smallest plans now that I've built this up, he says.

- The mask makes me be someone else, so I don't have to think about that.

Reports on their experiences

The recent debate about the romanticization of violence, drugs, weapons and money in the new Swedish gangster wave has attracted much attention. Although 1.Cuz says he left the criminal life, the texts are still full of references to weapons and drugs.

- It's because my life has looked that way. There are periods of my life that have been full of things, periods where my friends just went through things like that. There are some pages in Sweden that are fucked up. I am a product of my environment only and my music as well, he says.

You are not at risk of being involved in a criminal life?

- I don't think I'm influencing anyone to be tough or criminal. I have felt worse, I cannot feel worse. Don't take this road, you will feel bad, he says.
