Less than four days after the presentation of Donald Trump's peace plan, the president of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas announced, on Saturday, February 1, the "rupture of all relations" with Israel and the United States.

In a statement made before an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League on the American peace project in Egypt, Mahmoud Abbas also severed "all ties", including security ties, to Washington.

"Violation of the Oslo Accords"

For the head of state, who claims to have transmitted the message to the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, the American plan is a "violation of the Oslo agreements", signed with Israel in 1993.

The President of the Palestinian Authority also called on the Hebrew State to "assume its responsibilities as an occupying power" in the Palestinian Territories.

A capital in East Jerusalem or east of Jerusalem

Donald Trump presented a Middle East peace plan on Tuesday that endorses Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank settlements and proposes four years of negotiations to achieve the creation of a fragmented Palestinian state.

The American president mentioned the creation of a Palestinian capital in "Eastern Jerusalem", which can designate East Jerusalem. But for Benjamin Netanyahu, it would rather be a question of leaving to the Palestinians suburbs located east of the Holy City - that is to say localities, like Abou Dis, technically located in Jerusalem but on the eastern side of the security barrier separating Israel from the Palestinian Territories.
