With her song "Boys With Emotions", Felix Sandman has long been a favorite to go straight to the final on Saturday. And that with a song that lacks such a clear Melodifestival chorus that is usually required in these contexts.

This is a song where it is rather the text and the message that are in focus. The song lyrics are an encouragement to men and boys dare to start showing emotions. Not to hold the emotions inside without daring to open up. To receive a hug instead of handing out a punch.

The friendship with Ingrosso inspired

Sandman remembers how much snack it was when he became second in the Melodifestivalen in 2018. And then it was about how he and Benjamin Ingrosso so openly showed their strong bond of friendship.

- That there is such a stir that we are kissed and hugged in a friendly way. It shows that we really have a problem in society, ”says Sandman.

He continues:

- Feminism is not a question of women, it is everyone's question. And then one must also focus on what is wrong on the men's side. Since it is a "man's world", then what is wrong with the men that makes it wrong?

"A lot in education"

How much emotion does a boy or man show today?

- Much more than 50 years ago. But we still have a very long way to go. And there is a lot in how we raise our sons.

You are on exactly that in the song text. "Forget what your dad said," you sing. What did your dad say to you when you were a kid?

- I feel that I was raised very well. My dad has let me know things. But I am more nurtured by my mother, because I have lived more with my mother and sister. So I would say that the qualities, that I dare to express myself and show feelings, I have received more from my mother.

What do you want to say to the little guys who have you as an idol and now get to hear the song for the first time on Saturday?

- If they are small boys then they may not have been shaped by society yet. You want to prevent that then. But this is aimed at all men of all ages. What my dad's generation heard from their dads, it's toxic, it's not good.
