The staging "American Beauty" and two parts of the bondian Sam Mendes brought to the screen the story told by his grandfather - a participant in the First World War.

Saber Dance

“Saber Dance”, written for the ballet “Gayane”, is one of the most recognizable works of the Soviet composer Aram Khachaturian (the waltz was also no less vivid, opening the suite from the music to the drama “Masquerade”). Full of courageous strength and national flavor, Khachaturian’s melody recreated the vivid image of the brave Armenian people.

The work, which brought the composer worldwide fame, was created within a few hours. This happened in the evacuation to Perm in 1942. Khachaturian wrote the music for the dance reluctantly, at the request of the choreographer.

The process of creation and working conditions on “Saber Dance”, in which Khachaturian was, was shown by director Yusup Razykov in his picture. The role of the composer was entrusted to Hambardzum Kabanyan.

Gretel & Hansel (Gretel & Hansel)

Director Oz Perkins changed the familiar name for the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale by the Grimm brothers, as his horror interpretation focuses on Gretel. Hansel's sister is noticeably older than her brother - another discrepancy with the original version of the tale.

Gretel and Hansel wander through the woods in search of food when they stumble upon a quaint house with an equally quaint old woman in it. She invites children to visit, having previously prepared a trap for them. A pretty old woman is a witch who wants to eat children, but Gretel and Hansel intend to fight.

"Coma"

After the accident, the architect finds himself in a strange world where time and space obey unusual laws, and people are forced to hide from terrible otherworldly creatures. It turns out that he is in a world of coma, where consciousness lives separately from the body, and reality is formed from memories. This reality is full of both incredible opportunities and deadly dangers, and even awakening is not always the best outcome.

When developing the concept of the film, director-debutant Nikita Argunov focused on “The Beginning” of Nolan and “The Matrix” by Wachowski. However, also in the tape you can track the influence of "Stalker" and some computer games.

The roles in the film were played by Rinal Mukhametov, Milos Bikovich, Lyubov Aksyonova, Anton Pampushny, Konstantin Lavronenko and others.

Valhalla: Valhalla

In 1978, Danish artist Peter Madsen launched the Valhalla comic book series, which described the adventures of the heroes of Norse mythology in a humorous way. The strips were created based on "Elder Edda" - an Old Icelandic collection of dissimilar songs, united by theme and style. The songs of "Elder Edda" talked about the Scandinavian pantheon in general and the fate of the heroes of mythology in particular.

In the Madsen comics, stories about the heroes of German mythology are narrated on behalf of two young people. Graphic novels were published until 2009. In 1986, an animated film of the same name was shot based on their motives, and in 2018 they formed the basis of the script for the full-length film “Valhalla: Ragnarok” from the author of “Underworld” Fenar Ahmad.

According to the plot, two children, Röskva and Tjalfe, together with the gods Thor and Loki, go to Valhalla, whose world is threatened by the wolf Fenrir. The gods and mortals will unite to save themselves from Ragnarok.
