Anton Pavlovich Chekhov began his career in the literary field in the 1880s as the author of short stories, mainly published in humorous magazines under the pseudonym Antos Chekhonte. In those years, he combined writing with classes at the medical faculty of Moscow University. After studying, Chekhov practiced medicine for some time, and soon began to work in the newspaper New Time. The writer received recognition in the 1890s - it was then that his stories “Chamber No. 6”, “The Man in the Case”, “Ionych”, “Gooseberry”, the plays “The Seagull” and “Uncle Vanya” were published. He acquired the status of a cult playwright precisely thanks to these plays, as well as the later published Three Sisters and The Cherry Orchard.
