Actor Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith in Matrix - RODEO DRIVE PRESS / VISUAL Press Agency

The new Matrix opus will be filmed without one of the key players in the saga. Hugo Weaving, the Australian who gave life to the character of Agent Smith (the artificial intelligence which tries to eliminate Neo played by Keanu Reeves), will not be able to take part in the turning of the fourth shutter of the saga. The star revealed to Time Out that a scheduling problem prevents her from signing up to play in the blockbuster.

“I was offered to play (the play) The Visit and then they called me for Matrix. I knew the film was being made, but I didn't have the dates. I thought I could do both (…) but Lana Wachowski decided it wouldn't work, ”he said.

Neo and Trinity are back

Not all is lost for the fans, however. This fourth installment in the Matrix universe will see the return of Keanu Reeves in the cult role of Neo, as well as Carrie-Anne Moss in that of Trinity. The details of the shooting and the story of this new Matrix film are kept secret and since the third film, The Matrix Revolutions , offered an apparently final ending to the main characters, we understand why ...

Nevertheless rumors suggest that the Neo would abandon its role of "elected" in favor of another character. Maybe a woman, played by Jessica Henwick.
