  • While the transport strikes are coming to an end, the mobilization against the pension reform continues despite everything.
  • Between opening up to dialogue and broadening the mobilized, the unions are adopting different strategies to keep the movement going.
  • 20 Minutes contacted the UNSA and the CGT to talk about the different routes taken.

While the transport strike seems to be coming to an end, the unions assure it, the mobilization is not over. Trains and metros are certainly back, but the anger over pension reform has not budged.

Romain Altmann, general secretary of Info'Com-CGT and coordinator of the Solidarity Fund, specifies once again: "This is not the end of the mobilization, but it must be understood that after 45 days of strike, the situation is complicated for some. In fact, the union is moving towards other forms of action, such as punching initiatives such as the closure of the Louvre. "This is the kind of action that requires only few people mobilized and that has a great media impact".

Broadening the scope of action and the people mobilized

The secretary general affirms, there is no question of "opposing the forms", and there is a real desire for the CGT to continue "the highlights, namely the demonstrations and strikes. But now, the goal is also to broaden the movement to sectors other than transportation and the public service. He cites in particular the lawyers and the ports, massively mobilized. "This enlargement is useful and necessary for the continuation of the movement," he specifies.

A broadening both in the professional sectors and in the means of action: "Certain sectors cannot go on strike, so we are trying to offer less restrictive alternatives with work: mobilization on Saturdays, actions after working hours ..." More as the number of streets, play the number of sectors involved in the mobilization: "Faced with a deaf government, it is important to involve other employees. "

Demonstration the 24 anyway

Another means of action arousing interest is to use social networks and the virality of certain videos, such as those of jets of objects symbolizing the function or certain choreographies performed. "Our mobilization does not necessarily need to be physical," says Romain Altmann, who notably quotes the Solidarity Fund, today at nearly three million euros with more than 40,000 people having participated. “It is about making our actions popular and making ourselves known differently. The battle to win is above all that of public opinion ”.

Even if he admits it, he hopes that all these beautiful people rallied thanks to these new means put in place "will mobilize for the demonstration on Friday 24". Back to basics therefore.

Opening of dialogue at UNSA

Your different at UNSA. Contacted, Deputy Secretary General Dominique Corona explains: “For us, the demonstration or the strike are not ends in themselves. We only called the demonstration once. The goal was to open up a dialogue. The mobilization will continue, but the discussion with the government or the deputies is a mobilization. "

A new phase is therefore opening, that of consultation. For the moment, he just assures that the UNSA will do everything to "garner the maximum social gains, especially on issues of hardship", citing already those obtained in previous dialogues: "There are now 100% of vested rights in retirement, it will be the 1975 generation that will be concerned and not the 1963 generation, so many victories of the UNSA and our way of doing things. "Even if the assistant secretary general does not exclude that in case of disagreement," actions resume. "
