Like a cold shower for the economic and political elite gathered in Davos, climate activist Greta Thunberg deplored, Tuesday, January 21, that "nothing has been done" for the climate despite all the talk in favor of the 'environment.

In the snowy surroundings of the Graubünden ski resort, global warming dominates this year the World Economic Forum (WEF), at a time when companies compete with promises and governments compete with alarmist speeches.

Admittedly, "the climate and the environment are a topical subject today", but "in practice, nothing has been done", "the CO2 emissions have not decreased", hammered the young Swede in front of the big bosses and politicians gathered until Friday in the cozy Swiss ski resort.

However, it is not for want of receiving media attention, she said, with a touch of bitterness. "I can't complain about not being heard. They listen to me all the time," said the activist, who has become the global face of youth climate mobilization.

No climate concern, however, in the tweet sent overnight by the other headliner announced Tuesday in Davos, Donald Trump.

"Avoid the climatic apocalypse"

In campaign for his re-election in November and a few hours before the opening of his impeachment trial in Washingon, he intends to boast of his "America First" policy. "On the way to Davos, to meet world and business leaders, and bring (...) hundreds of billions of dollars to the United States! We are the NUMBER ONE in the universe, by far", a- he tweeted.

Heading to Davos, Switzerland, to meet with World and Business Leaders and bring Good Policy and additional Hundreds of Billions of Dollars back to the United States of America! We are now NUMBER ONE in the Universe, by FAR !!

Will he meet Greta Thunberg? Invited to Davos for the second year in a row, the 17-year-old activist will speak again after the American president at a round table and will open in the afternoon a session with the unequivocal title: "Avoiding the apocalypse climate ".

It remains to be seen what concrete impact these warnings will have. In a recent PwC survey of almost 1,600 bosses, climate change was not even among the top 10 threats to the global economy for 2020, only appearing in 11th position.

According to a Greenpeace report published on Tuesday, ten banks regularly present in Davos alone funded between 2015 and 2018 the fossil fuel sector with 1,000 billion dollars.
