Actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson - Marcus Yam / Los Angeles Times / Polaris / Starface

After having offered nationality to Tom Hanks, Greece decides to extend this decision to the entire family of the actor. Rita Wilson, his wife, as well as Chester and Truman, their two children, receive this honor for their help during the fires that devastated the country in 2018. A decision published in the official journal of the government, as revealed by the Greek City Times.

"The Hanks family has given a signal on a global scale, allowing immediate action towards our fellow citizens affected by the fires," it is written in the decree dated December 27, last.

For services rendered to the nation

Last month, Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos first granted honorary naturalization to Tom Hanks. The actor and his family spend their summers on the island of Antiparos where they have had a residence for several years. According to the same publication, Greek law provides for this honor to thank those "who have rendered exceptional service to the nation".
