A new study indicates that men who take fish oil supplements that have a high content of omega-3 fatty acids may improve their fertility.

After examining data about 1700 young people, the researchers concluded in a report published in the journal "OpenOpen" that the consumption of fish oil supplements was linked to an increase in the number of sperms and an improvement in the levels of hormones that contribute to male fertility.

While all men can benefit from adding omega-3 fatty acids to their diets, the biggest impact will go to those with sperm impairment, said Tina Cold Jensen, who co-led the research team and is a professor at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense.

Jinsen attributed this to the fact that these types of fatty acids are necessary for fertility.
