Celebrating New Adults Mikoshi Nakanaka Kanagawa Fujisawa January 19 20:27

A "Mikoshi Kanaka" celebrating a new adult by carrying it on the sea was held in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

A local mikoshi-kai was held every year at Katase Beach in Fujisawa City at this time, and on the 19th when the weather was fine, 17 new adults participated.

At first, the priest of Eshima Shrine held a ritual on the sandy beach where four koshi are lined up to celebrate the beginning of a new adult.

After this, four new adults who wore a hanten, etc. with a spell written as “Holiday Adults” rode on four shovels and were carried into the sea.

As Mikoshi paraded with the energetic shout, “Don't hesitate,” many people gathered on the sandy beach to take pictures and watch.

The new adult woman who participated said, "It is still a life relying on parents, but I think it is good to act with a strong sense of adulthood."

A new adult man said, "I've joined the adult community and want to be responsible."
