Passport "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" From next month application to grant January 19 5:16

A new passport designed with the spread of "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" from Katsushika Hokusai is expected to be issued as early as next month's application.

Before the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to change the design except for the cover to prevent forgery of passports.

The new passport is printed with the works of Ukiyo-e artist and Hokusai Katsushika, "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" at each spread of the visa column stamped when entering and leaving Japan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to make a design change four years ago and proceeded with preparations. As a result, it is expected that the application will be issued as early as next month.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Not only will the design be complicated to strengthen countermeasures against forgery, but it will also lead to the promotion of Japanese culture overseas."
