The painting "La Punk Mona" by French artist Jisbar was launched into orbit on December 11. It will be visible at Galerie Montmartre from mid-January 2020. - Jisbar

Mona Lisa exposed in space. No, Leonardo da Vinci's canvas has not left the Louvre for an orbit around the Earth. For the painter's 500th birthday, the Parisian artist Jisbar created La Punk Mona and after seven months of collaboration with a technical team, he sent his canvas on December 11 at 33.4 km above sea level using a carbon nacelle.

The spacecraft was tailor-made, equipped with a full HD camera and a balloon filled with helium with zero emissions and no fuel, therefore no pollution. The painting traveled for 1.5 hours before landing in the north of England. “The idea came more from a desire for sensations and strong emotions than from challenge…, explains Jisbar. I wanted to give a new dimension to La Punk Mona , to offer it a timeless and framed trip in the form of levitation in the cosmos, but also to paint the sky. "

The technical constraint of the operation, in addition to putting it into orbit, was for the artist to change his painting techniques. For this painting, he used acrylic paint, oil and aerosol cans.

Back on Earth, La Punk Mona will be exhibited in mid-January in Paris at the Galerie Montmartre (18th).
