Something more than 2,800 kilometers separate Madrid straight from Adazi, a small town located half an hour northeast of Riga. Since the spring of 2017, and with the aim of defending the east flank of NATO, the Atlantic Alliance has launched a military operation in the three Baltic countries to provide them with deterrent against the Russian threat. In Latvia, the Allied forces are cliffed in an old military base of the Soviet era located on the outskirts of Adazi.
