Why this book?

  • Because the writing is fluid, the style very lively, the translation excellent and the vocabulary of quality. Despite the many eras, we do not get lost because the date is, if necessary, indicated as a chapter title. In addition, there is no plethora of characters and everyone's situations are very clear. What is also captivating is that the interest does not wane. Everyone's life is discovered in small touches and the progressive revelations keep the reader's attention.
  • Because in this skillfully constructed, richly documented novel , Blanca Miosi takes us to several places at different times (From 1943 to 2005). Backtracking sheds light on the protagonists' personality, especially Daniel Kozlowski, whose character, life and feelings are very developed.
  • Because the author is an outstanding storyteller and her stories are fascinating. We can only understand Maud Hillard, her faithful translator, who takes pleasure in discovering her texts and sharing them with us.
