With his new film which will be released this Wednesday, January 15 in theaters in France, the French director Renaud Barret takes us on the streets of Kinshasa. “Système K” unveils the new artistic scene of the Congolese capital.

Five years is the time it took Renaud Barret to make Système K , a documentary that crystallizes his encounters and his wanderings in the streets of Kinshasa. After Benda Bilili , where he filmed a group of disabled musicians, the filmmaker became passionate about the artistic scene of this boiling country.

This scene began to appear in the streets from 2011, the second election of Kabila as president of the DRC. But, the challenge comes in a totally unexpected way from this fairly spontaneous generation. There is also this side that messages are sent to the population simply with their body. "

Humor, madness and anger

Système K is a fascinating documentary, a gallery of more than atypical artists whose works denounce with humor, madness or anger the evils plaguing their society.

Capsules, casings of used ammunition, kalashnikovs or discarded computer equipment, animal skulls or molten plastic ... everything made belly for these artists, performers and musicians.

System K is a sad observation on the state of the country, but transcended by these forces of life, desire and hope, which make all the cost.
